2023-2024 Gala Season as a Co-Chair Committee Leader
Michelle Hill-Rawlings, here are the Highlights of our year as Co-Chairs of the Yellow Rose Silent Auction Committee. Thank you for everything you did and didn't get done...lol! We had fun and I hope somehow, we made a difference again this year! Our Mission together is to help fund research for The Cure to Multiple Sclerosis.
Preparation and Research (April 2023-October 2023)
Explored fundraising platforms, including OneCause and Givebutter.
Engaged in calls and demos to evaluate their features and costs.
Communicated with Claire Murad and explored auctioneer proposals.
Introduced Givebutter to the YRG committee and launched it as the new platform.
Engagement with Donors and In-Kind Donations (November 2023)
Reached out to past in-kind donors, receiving positive responses.
Managed Givebutter set up and logged silent auction donations.
Continued communications with software providers and explored auctioneer options.
Committee Meetings and Administrative Work (December 2023 - March 2024)
Attended YRG committee meetings, discussed auction logistics, and shared updates.
Used Givebutter for a successful silent auction at another event. Raised $6000 with Fish Fry and Silent Auction.
Handled administrative tasks, including emails, reports, and preparations.
Gala Set-Up and Event Day (April 2024)
Assisted with silent auction item sorting and preparation.
Unexpectedly, the last-minute decision was made to switch from Givebutter to OneCause.
Despite challenges, we both participated in the gala, Had Fun and continued to deal with last-minute changes and failures in communication.
I've estimated that I spent at least 5205 minutes and 990 miles in the past 12 months. I know your mileage was more since you were coming from Oklahoma and Ft Worth.
Our dedication and hard work throughout this process is commendable. Despite the unexpected twists, we adapted and contributed to the success of the 2024 Yellow Rose Gala. 🌹
